About Ad Veritas Construction
Joselito "Ping" Enriquez was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. He escaped the military form of government there by moving to Topeka, Kansas in 1974 at the age of 19. Facing a host of challenges, Enriquez found employment as a custodian at the local YMCA. Determined to complete his college education, he attended night classes at Washburn University. As tuition costs rose, he supplemented his modest income by singing with a local band.
Enriquez received a BA in Communication Arts with emphasis in public relations and marketing in 1977. He began carving his career with his first job as a rental clerk at Ryder Truck Systems. In 1979, the YMCA recruited him to come back as the Adult Program Director. Four years later, he was named the Executive Director of the Downtown Branch, the same branch where he started as a custodian. He obtained his U.S. citizenship in 1984.
In 1986, Enriquez joined Washburn University as the Executive Director of University Relations and Assistant to the President. He served as the university official spokesperson, fund raiser, lobbyist and university representative to its diverse constituency.
Enriquez left Washburn in 1995 and formed his own company, A Special Place, with a facility in Kansas City, Missouri and one in Topeka. A Special Place was a licensed provider of residential and day services to adults with mental illness, mental retardation and developmental disabilities.
The Topeka NBC affiliate hired Enriquez in 1996 to sell television advertising. By the end of his first year, he had nearly tripled his account list and increased billing by more than 50%. He was voted the Sales and Marketing Executives (SME) Sales Executive of the Year. He led the sales team in new business and sales volume every year until June, 2000, when he joined the local CBS affiliate as Local Sales Manager and Director of Business Development. Local sales went from 28% market share to 40% with a monthly average sales increase of more than 60%. The station went from second place in local revenue to first place.
